Facts about the Grundfos Group



Products
With an annual production of 10 million pump units, Grundfos is one of the world’s leading pump manufacturers, covering approximately 50 per cent of the world market for these pumps. In addidtion to pumps, Grundfos manufactures electric motors for the pumps and has a considerable production of electric motors for separate merchandising. Furthermore, Grundfos develops and sells state-of -the-art electronics for control pumps and pumps system.

Global extension
The Grundfos Group is represented by 58 companies in 43 countries. In addition, Grundfos products are merchandised by distributors in a large number of countries.

Ownership
Grundfos was established in 1945 by the late Poul Due Jensen. The Poul Due Jensen Foundation was established as a self-governing institution in 1975. Today, the foundation owns about 85 per cent and the founder’s family the remaining 15 per cent of shares in Grundfos Holding AG. The aim of the foundation is to consolidate and expand the economic basis of the Grundfos Group. The capital and the profits of the foundation are to be utilised solely for the aim of the foundation, that is the profits are to be re-invested in the Grundfos companies. Grundfos Holding AG is the majority shareholder in all Grundfos companies.

Research and Development
In order to maintain a leading position Grundfos attaches great importance to research and development.In 1985, Grundfos established its own Electronics production and in 1991, Grundfos Electronics was inaugurated, including a Hybrid Factory with clean room production. In May 1990, the Grundfos Technology Centre was inaugurated. This centre ensures that Grundfos will always have sufficient capacity to maintain and expand its leading position as regards vital aspects of research in new materials, development of process technology and construction of advanced production equipment and machines.

Quality Certification
In 1989, Grundfos A/S, as the first manufacturer in the world, was certified according to the quality standard ISO 9001. In the following years several other Grundfos companies have been certified.
Grundfos’ production companies have been registered according to ISO 9002.

Environmental Certification
In 1996, Grundfos’ Danish companies were certified according to the environmental standard of ISO 14001 as well as the EMAS registration of the European Union.

Prizes and awards
Grundfos has received a large number of prizes and awards, such as:
 

  • Grundfos products have been honoured with the Danish Industrial Design Prize four times
  • Grundfos circulators (UP) won a gold medal at the Leipziger Fair in 1964
  • Grundfos submersible pumps (SP) won a gold medal at the Leipziger fair in 1968
  • In 1987 Grundfos received the European Better Environment Award
  • In 1990 Grundfos received the Quality Award of the Danish Society for Quality Assurance
  • In 1991 and 1993 Grundfos received the Bosch Group Award for sub-suppliers
  • In 1998 Grundfos A/S received the Danish Quality Award

Employment Policies
Employees, their knowhow, and their personal commitment are Grundfos' most valuable resource.

In order to ensure a competent and motivated staff, Grundfos attaches great importance to the training of employees. An apprentices department, an industrial school and a high level of training activity are evidence of this.
